Starting July 8, Mandatory Safety Certificates Will Be Required for Certain Goods Imported into the US

Beginning July 8, 2026, the US is updating its import requirements for regulated consumer products. This applies to goods for which certificates of conformity are required in accordance with the regulations of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Sellers should carefully check children's products, toys, home goods, electronics, products with potential safety risks, and other regulated categories. Data from these certificates will be transmitted to US Customs electronically.
There are two primary types of certificates:
- Children's Product Certificate (CPC) — for children's products subject to mandatory CPSC safety requirements: toys, children's clothing and textiles, childcare items, children's furniture, children's jewelry and accessories, and school supplies.
- General Certificate of Conformity (GCC) — for general consumer products subject to applicable CPSC standards, rules, or bans: adult clothing and textiles, mattresses and futons, carpets and rugs, bicycles and bicycle helmets, specialized packaging (e.g., for household chemicals, e-cigarette liquids, medicines), and paints.
The full list of product categories and HTS codes is available in the official CPSC document:

For the initial period, we recommend shipping goods affected by these changes via consolidation. These new requirements are being introduced for the first time, and delays during customs clearance are possible at the initial stage—consolidation will help minimize risks.
The most critical step right now is to check whether your goods belong to the categories requiring a CPSC certificate of conformity. This will help prepare your shipments for the new requirements and avoid unnecessary customs delays.
If you have any questions, the SkladUSA team is here to guide you and advise on what data needs to be prepared.
